Handcrafted Button Bracelet designed with Antique and Vintage Metal and Mother of Pearl Buttons
“Autumn Equinox”
There are five stations in this bracelet, each made up of a layering of three buttons…the TOP is a lovely antique metal button with a raised botanical design in a burnished gold color, the MIDDLE is a vintage metal button in a burnished gold coIor that I have flattened and shaped , and the BOTTOM is a luminous gray Mother of Pearl antique button.
Since I have not removed the metal shanks from the top buttons, holes have been drilled in the middle and bottom buttons so that the shank can sit through. The shanks serve two purposes: the first is to maintain the wholeness and integrity of these antique buttons, and the second is that the shank is used in the beading and connection of the piece, allowing the beading wire to pass through. There is a photo of the underside to view this process. Around the shanks in this photo are two black beads for fitting purposes.
Between each station is a woven beading of tiny stones..pyrite, mookite, and jade. There is a very unusual glass bead with dots of colorful, glowing dichronic embellishment.
I fashioned the toggle clasp with a vintage brass button by shaping, adding holes, and buffing it smooth. The toggle’s bar is long and secure and is gold plated. The attached rings are gold filled and soldered closed.
The bracelet length is 7 1/2”
Each station has a diameter of 15/16”.
Autumn Themed with leaves and subtle colors of burnt orange, clay green, glittering
and luminous grays, tans and browns, and soft golds, with the surprising glow of
the dichroic glass, all create the fragrant and minor keyed emotion of the season.
Thank you for your kind interest.
