Handcrafted Earrings designed with Vintage and Antique Buttons with Identical Front and Back
Each earring is designed by dapping vintage metal buttons to a rounded shape, and then placing them back to back . Antique metal buttons with a gold and plum hue were also dapped and further shaped in this same design.
As the buttons hang on sterling silver rings, they gently move ever so slightly back and forth. This movement is delightful and was done purposely for this effect. I borrowed this idea from a mobile in my home that allows movement from small rings attached to the thin rods. Thank you Alexander Calder, originator of the mobile!
The silver toned buttons have a filigree motif and the the shaped antique top buttons add sweet color and further interest.
Faceted Garnet Stones and Pyrite Stones enhance the earrings.
The total drop length from the rings to the very bottom of the tiny stones is 1 1/2”.
The width at the widest point is a scant 5/8”. This is also the diameter of the buttons.
The French Hook Ear Wires, as well as all of the rings, are Sterling Silver. The ear wires are handmade and have been hardened in a tumbler and the little loops holding the earrings are soldered closed.
These are sweet, unique earrings with a real antique vibe and gentle movement, sure to bring lots of enjoyment.
