Handcrafted Necklace designed with Three Victorian Glass Buttons, Hand Beading, and Handwoven Silk Cording
Midnight Along The Nile
The beauty is in the details ,and that’s certainly true with Antique Victorian Glass Buttons. Here, three lovely black glass buttons with gentle impressions and very tiny raised facets were chosen for this pendant. The top and bottom button have a fire-on finish known as silver luster that has certainly stood the test of time. The middle button also has a fire-on finish, yet the colors are a blend of mulberry with hints go gold…very subtle as in a whisper.
The framing around the buttons is hand sewn beading of glass, pyrite, and hematite stones.
The back of the pendant is a sewn on faux suede that is strong, yet soft and gentle against the skin.
The cord is made of strands of silk done by manipulating them on a disk know as Kumihimo Weaving. This is a Japanese style of cord braiding. This creates a tightly woven, but supple cord that is resistant to fraying. There are, in addition to the strands of black silk, magenta colored silk is also woven it. Please enlarge the photos to see this .
The lobster clasp is sterling silver.
The length of the cord is 18”
The pendant is 1 3/4” long. With the beaded top or bail it is closer to 2 inches.
The width at the widest point is 7/8”.
There is also a depth of a scant 1/2”.
Thank you for your kind interest in this very unique pendant necklace!
